The vibes initiative supports 8 medical clinics situated all around Syria, each with an emergency response team treating all civilians who are injured in the war.
ART AUCTION FOR SYRIA’S VIBES
Last week the I met Andy and Calvin and they told be about a project they might be running with Air Bnb’s Social Experiences. After a chat, we decided that I would do a painting and auction it on the night.
The event was held in Cocu food was provided by chefs from the local restaurant’s Dublin Pizza Co, Bastible and Hang Dai, each chef doing a course for the meal.
Meanwhile I got to enjoy a beer and set up a little area outside and got stuck into a stencil or street art version of my oil painting based on Rodin’s famous “Thinking man” sculpture.
The evening was nice and relaxing and it was a pleasure to work with the guys and raise funds for such a worthwhile cause.
Dublin born DJ – Calvin James – spent 6 months in 2016 in Syria volunteering as a medic and ambulance driver. He is now raising funds through music, events and positive vibes to help save and change as many lives as possible. He returned to the Syrian border in Iraq in March 2017
For the past 15 months, Syria’s vibes have been funding 8 health clinics and rescue/ambulance services in the Rojava region of Northern Syria where Calvin spent more than 6 months volunteering as an ambulance driver and medic.
In 2017 they continue to work in Syria but have also focused on displaced Syrians (and others) in neighboring Iraq, in the Bajed Kandala Camp, home to 7,000 internally displaced survivors of the Yazidi genocide by ISIS.
They have now treated more than 100,000 men, women and children, across the whole of Syria. In the clinic that Calvin lived and worked in for 6 months in 2016, in Qamishli, they treated over 22,000 victims alone.
